1. Exercise Daily
The key to success is to work hard, and here the key to a healthy and fit lifestyle is to exercise daily, period. We all know that exercising has tons and tons of benefits and makes the body healthier both physically and mentally. Any physical activity that requires hard work from the body and muscles can be considered as an exercise. An exercise can be of many types but has the sole purpose of making you active and to make your heart beat faster. You can either join the gym or do it yourself. It does not matter if you are simply walking with your dog, jogging, cycling, swimming, weight lifting or doing anything that keeps you moving, in the end, all these activities will only make you fit, healthier and happier.
2. Eat Healthy
What you eat is what you become, cleverly said by some intelligent person. Eating junk will make you a living junk while eating healthier food will make you healthy. And, those healthy foods include all the fruits, vegetables, grains, seeds and other naturally occurring items which can be consumed, of course. These foods must be consumed in their purest forms without adding any preservatives, chemicals or coloring.
Fast foods have been called junk foods for a reason, actually, there are many. These foods have no nutritional value and are loaded with chemicals, artificial ingredients, preservatives, and all the other unhealthy items. All these ingredients when combined make a large burger, which upon eating supplies your body with too many sugars, simple carbs and a load of processed calories which brings along many unwanted diseases like, diabetes, obesity, cholesterol, and whatnot.
3. Do Not Divest Yourself
Although we talked about healthy eating and also discussed what is good and what is not. But, we are humans after all and not machines where we can change something almost instantly just by pressing a button. For us, changing a life long habit takes time and patience. You cannot just, after reading this article, go and throw away all the junk food and start eating the things we mentioned, you just can’t. That is why you need to implement the healthy foods in your daily life slowly and keep reducing the junk you eat with time. One day, you will start loving all the natural foods and would not eat the junk anymore.
4. Be Determined
You are not working for your boss or anyone else, you would not get a salary either, but a healthier, happier and fit lifestyle for yourself. Everything that has to be done requires determination and without a strong will and determination, everything is impossible. So make up your mind and begin. Start slowly but maintain consistency so that you do not lose the track. Always focus on your goals and move forward. Make your fitness and health a top priority and act accordingly.
5. Manage Your Time
Time management is very important if you want to achieve your goals. Without a managed routine it is quite difficult to keep a track of your time. Thus, it is highly recommended for you to make a routine for yourself including everything you do daily and assigning a time for each task. If you go to work in the morning at 9’o clock and come back home at 5’o clock then write that and then include all the other tasks such as exercising, eating (breakfast, lunch, dinner), sleeping, etc. This will help you a lot and would help you achieve your fitness goals without putting in too much effort. Remember, time is everything and if managed properly can make anything possible.
6. Make Your Weekends Great
A week-long hard work makes us tired both physically and mentally, thus it is very important not to waste that one precious weekend in watching TV, sleeping or completing your pending office work if it is not important. Rather, make a different schedule especially for your weekends and follow that. Include everything that makes your soul happy and the thing you enjoy doing the most. That could be anything from hanging out with your best buddies, going for a picnic, visiting a religious place, cooking your favorite food or anything that makes you happy. By doing this not only you will learn to enjoy your life but would be fully prepared to grind for the upcoming week at the office. This is just a small present that you are giving to yourself for working so hard and following your routine strictly.
7. Monitor Your Progress
Likewise, time management, monitoring the progress you have made over a certain period plays a very important role in your life. If you are not monitoring your progress then you will never know whether your hard work is paying off or not and whether you are progressing or not. You can monitor your weight if you are exercising to lose or gain weight, you can monitor your strength, endurance and all the other things that you are working hard for. This will give you an idea if the hard work you are doing for a healthy and fit lifestyle is working for you or not. If not, then make changes in your diet, routine and exercise and then monitor again.
8. Find The Other You
Being friends with someone with the same goals is always a win-win situation for both. You can make some new friends that are on the same mission to have a healthy and fit lifestyle. It is not that difficult, you just need to explore around your neighbor, gym, workplace, park or anywhere you go. Just observe others and if you feel that they are on the same journey as you then talk to them, know them and discuss your routine with them and befriend them. Now you have a partner with whom you can compete, exercise, make new goals and enjoy on the weekends. This will make you stick to your routine by motivating each other not to give up.
9. Drink More Water
Due to our busy schedule, we often do not give much priority to drinking water which is not good. Our body is made up of around 60% of water and you must keep yourself hydrated by drinking the required amount of water each day. Increased physical activity requires you to intake more water than your daily requirement. Thus you need to drink at least 3 to 4 liters of water each day to avoid any dehydration. Also, drinking more water makes your body to flush out toxins easily and keeps you healthy.
10. Sleep Properly
After a long day at work and all the hard work during exercise now your body needs rest. Complete rest is very important for your body and mind and can only be achieved while sleeping. While you are sleeping, you are in a phase where your body is preparing you for the next day. So that you can continue with your work and all the hard work without feeling tired. That is why it is highly recommended to have a proper disturbance-free sleep for at least 6 to 8 hours. A night of proper sleep makes your mind focus on your work and your body makes you achieve the same, which would be a lot harder to concentrate if you did not have a proper sleep last night.
These were the 10 secrets to living a healthy and fit lifestyle. Adopting some of these is easier as compared to the rest and might need some time and patience. The only thing that matters is your determination and the desire to be better, healthier and happier.
